Marketing Photography
Brand photography gives you a library. Marketing photography gives you the exact image a campaign needs — the ad creative that has to stop a thumb, the landing page hero that has to hold attention long enough to read the offer, the email header that has to earn a click. At Marmalade Media, we plan marketing photography backward from the placement: where the image will run, what it has to make someone do, and what it needs to leave room for. Then we shoot to that spec.
Marketing Photography vs. Brand Photography
Most businesses need both, and the difference matters when you are deciding what to book. Brand photography is your evergreen visual identity — the founder, the team, the workspace, the personality — shot once or twice a year and used everywhere. It answers “who are you?” Marketing photography answers a narrower question: “what does this campaign need?” It is produced against a brief with a start date, a placement, and a job to do — a paid social campaign, a website relaunch, a product launch, a seasonal promotion, a trade show, a direct mail piece.
That changes how the shoot is planned. A brand session optimizes for range and longevity. A marketing shoot optimizes for the placement: the aspect ratio each platform serves, the space a headline and a button need, the number of variants you will want to test, and the consistency that ties one campaign together across every channel. The images can include your people, your product, or your space — the organizing principle is the campaign, not the subject.
If you are starting from zero, brand photography is usually the first investment. If you already have a library and a specific campaign to fill — or your ad account is spending budget on tired creative — marketing photography is the faster path to a measurable result.

What's Included
Every marketing photography project includes the planning and post-production that turn a shoot into campaign-ready assets — not just the hours behind the camera.
Campaign Brief & Placement Map
Before the shoot, we document the campaign goal, the audience, every placement the images will run in, and the crop and copy-space requirements for each. That becomes the shot list — nothing is photographed without a destination.
Art Direction & Styling
Creative direction that fits the campaign's message: wardrobe, props, location, color, and mood chosen to support the offer rather than distract from it. We source or coordinate what the shoot needs.
Shot-to-Spec Framing
Every setup is composed for its placement — headline room on hero shots, a clean edge for buttons, and subject placement that survives a square, vertical, and horizontal crop from the same frame.
Variant Sets for Testing
Multiple expressions, angles, and backgrounds per concept so your media buyer or designer has real options to test — not one hero image and a folder of near-duplicates.
Professional Editing & Retouching
Color-managed editing that keeps skin tones, product colors, and brand colors accurate across every image in the campaign, plus retouching appropriate to where each image will run.
Placement-Ready Delivery
Files exported in the crops and sizes each channel needs and named by placement, with full usage rights for your marketing channels — website, social, paid ads, email, and print.
Types of Marketing Photography We Produce
A campaign rarely lives in one place. We plan the shoot around every placement it touches so the assets match wherever they appear.
Paid Social & Display Ad Creative
Still-image ad creative for Meta, LinkedIn, Google Display, and programmatic placements: clear, thumb-stopping compositions with room for a headline, shot in the vertical, square, and landscape crops each platform serves.
Website & Landing Page Imagery
Hero images, section backgrounds, and offer-specific visuals for a redesign or a campaign landing page — composed so the image supports the headline and the call to action instead of competing with them.
Email & Newsletter Visuals
Header images and campaign visuals for launches, promotions, and nurture sequences, built to read clearly at email width on a phone screen.
Launch & Campaign Photography
A complete image set for a product launch, a new location, a rebrand, or a seasonal push — consistent lighting, styling, and tone across every asset so the campaign looks like one campaign everywhere it runs.
Print, Collateral & Trade Show
High-resolution imagery for brochures, direct mail, signage, banners, and booth graphics, shot with the resolution and bleed room that large-format printing demands.
Sales & Pitch Materials
Imagery for pitch decks, proposals, one-pagers, and sales enablement pieces — the visuals your team puts in front of a prospect after the first call.
How We Plan a Marketing Shoot Around the Placement
The difference between a photo that looks good and a photo that performs usually comes down to decisions made before the shutter opens. Here is what we work through on every marketing photography project.
Aspect ratio comes first
A single image rarely works everywhere. Feed placements favor vertical (4:5) and square (1:1) crops, Stories and Reels are full-screen vertical (9:16), website heroes run wide (16:9 or wider), and link previews and display ads run landscape (1.91:1). Each platform publishes its exact dimensions and safe zones — Meta's Ads Guide is the reference we use for Facebook and Instagram — and those specs change. We map every shot to the ratios it needs to survive, then frame with enough room around the subject that a vertical crop and a wide crop can both come from the same setup. That is cheaper than a second shoot and better than a stretched or awkwardly cropped file.
Copy space is part of the composition
An ad or a hero image almost always carries text: a headline, a subhead, a button. If the subject fills the frame, the designer has nowhere to put it and ends up with an overlay that hides half the photo. We shoot with negative space on the side the layout will use, keep backgrounds simple where the text will sit, and check contrast on set so white or brand-color type stays legible.
Design for the thumbnail, not the monitor
Most of the audience will see the image a few inches wide on a phone, often for under a second. So we favor one clear subject, strong separation from the background, and expressions and gestures that read at small sizes. Fine detail that only shows on a large screen is a luxury; clarity at thumbnail size is the requirement.
Build in the variants you will test
Ad performance is found, not predicted. Every concept gets multiple executions — a different expression, a different background, product in hand versus product on a surface, a warmer and a cooler edit — so a media buyer can rotate creative and let the numbers pick the winner. It is the same discipline behind our video ads, where testing creative is how we helped one client cut cost per lead from over $100 to under $15.
Consistency across the whole campaign
A campaign runs across ads, a landing page, emails, and social posts at the same time. If the lighting, color, and styling drift between assets, it stops feeling like one message. We lock the look in pre-production — a defined palette, wardrobe, and lighting setup — and hold it across every asset so the ad, the page it lands on, and the follow-up email all match. If you have brand photography guidelines, we work inside them.
Usage that covers where the image actually runs
Full usage rights for your marketing channels are included in every package. Packaging, out-of-home, and franchise or partner use are the cases worth flagging early — we confirm that scope on the strategy call so you never discover a restriction after the campaign is live.
Who This Is For
Marketing photography is for any business with a campaign to run and a placement to fill — and for the teams responsible for making it perform.
Businesses Running Paid Ads
If you spend on Meta, LinkedIn, or Google every month, creative fatigue is a real cost. Fresh, tested still creative built for the placement is one of the least expensive levers you have for bringing cost per lead down.
Marketing Teams & Agencies
In-house marketers and agencies who need a photographer who understands a creative brief, delivers to spec, and names files by placement — so the assets drop straight into the campaign without a round of resizing.
Product Launches & New Locations
A launch deserves a coordinated image set across every channel on day one. When the product itself needs catalog-style coverage, we pair the campaign shoot with product photography from the same session.
Law Firms & Professional Services
Legal marketing photography for practice-area pages, attorney advertising, and campaign landing pages — imagery that meets the standards professional advertising demands while still looking like your firm.
Medical Practices & Healthcare Marketing
Campaign imagery for new-service launches, patient acquisition ads, and practice websites, shot with the warmth patients respond to and the polish a healthcare brand needs.
Multi-Location & Franchise Brands
Consistent campaign imagery across locations, planned and quoted as a single project so every market gets the same look and the same set of placement-ready files.

Our Process
The same strategy-first process we use for every project, applied to a campaign with a deadline.
1. Strategy Call — Define the Campaign
We start with the goal, the audience, the offer, and the placements. If you have a brief, we work from it; if you do not, we write one with you. The output is a placement map and a shot list where every image has a destination, a crop, and a job.
2. Production — Shoot to Spec
On location or in our Houston studio, we light and compose each setup for its placement, capture the variants the test plan calls for, and review on set against the crop guides so nothing has to be fixed in post or reshot later.
3. Deliver — Drop It Into the Campaign
Edited, color-consistent files delivered in every crop and size the placement map calls for, organized by channel and ready to hand to your designer, media buyer, or web developer. Most marketing galleries deliver within 7 to 14 business days depending on scope, and rush delivery is available when a launch date is fixed.
Marketing Photography in Houston & Nationwide
Marmalade Media is based in Houston, TX, with a studio near the Texas Medical Center, and we shoot marketing photography on location across the Greater Houston area — from the Heights and Montrose to the Galleria, Memorial, the Energy Corridor, and Sugar Land. Houston businesses that need their storefront, facility, product, and team documented as an operation will find that scope on our Houston commercial photography page; identity-led imagery starts with our Houston brand photographer hub.
Outside Houston, we travel for campaign shoots and handle the strategy, placement map, and pre-production remotely over video calls, so shoot day is efficient wherever it happens. See the portfolio for the quality we bring to every shoot and the pricing page for how projects are structured.

Marketing photography is quoted per project based on the number of placements and concepts, the shoot length, and how many variants the campaign needs. We scope it the same way we scope every photography service — by session length and setups — so our published brand photography ranges ($500 to $1,000 for a two-hour session, $1,000 to $1,800 for a half day, $1,800 to $2,500 for a full day) are a fair reference point. Rush delivery is available at an additional 25 percent of the package price. You receive a flat quote after the strategy call, and the pricing page shows how every service is structured.
If you have no professional image library yet, start with brand photography — it gives you the evergreen founder, team, and workspace imagery every channel draws on. If you already have that library and now have a specific campaign to fill (a paid ad push, a landing page, a launch, a seasonal promotion), marketing photography is the faster route to a measurable result because every image is built for a placement. Many clients book both in one production: a brand session for the library and a campaign block for the ads. A strategy call sorts out which you need in about fifteen minutes.
Yes, and it is usually the most efficient way to do it. Marmalade Media produces both photography and video, so a single shoot day can cover the still ad creative, the landing page hero, and the video ads for the same campaign with matching lighting, styling, and tone. That consistency is hard to get when two separate vendors shoot on two separate days.
Yes. Every Marmalade Media package includes full usage rights for your marketing channels — website, social media, paid ads, email, and print. If a campaign will run somewhere less common, such as product packaging, out-of-home placements, or shared use across franchise or partner locations, mention it on the strategy call so we confirm the scope before the shoot rather than after the campaign is live.
It depends on the placement map, not a fixed count. A single-campaign shoot typically delivers a planned set for each placement — hero and supporting images for the landing page, several tested variants per ad concept, an email header, and the print assets if the campaign has them — each exported in the crops that placement uses. We would rather deliver 30 images that each have a defined job than 100 that do not. The exact deliverables are listed in your proposal before we shoot.
Absolutely. If you already have a brief, a mood board, or a layout mockup, we shoot to it: we build crop guides from your specs, check framing against them on set, and name every delivered file by placement so your designer or media buyer can drop the assets straight into the campaign. If you do not have a brief yet, we write one with you during the strategy call.
Two to four weeks ahead is ideal — it leaves room for the placement map, styling, and location logistics without rushing pre-production. Campaign timelines are often tighter than that, so tell us the launch date and we will work backward from it; we regularly turn projects around faster when a deadline calls for it.
